‘Girls’ Night Out’ - Sergio Farias
Girls’ Night Out marked the debut solo exhibition of Sergio Farias at Jutta Gallery in New York, presenting a vivid exploration of fame, femininity, and the complexities of celebrity culture. Through ten acrylic-on-canvas works, Farias delved into the glitz and shadows of Hollywood life, drawing inspiration from early 2000s pop icons like Paris Hilton, whom he regards as “our generation’s Marilyn Monroe.” The exhibition's centerpiece, 21 Forever and Fame, paid homage to Hilton's influence on the concept of being "famous for being yourself."
Farias's paintings combined bold, cartoon-infused visuals with poignant commentary on the entertainment industry's dynamics, particularly the experiences of women navigating power structures. His work reflected a blend of personal observations and cultural critique, offering a nuanced perspective on the allure and pitfalls of fame.
The exhibition attracted a diverse audience, including art collectors, influencers, and notable figures from the art and entertainment industries, underscoring Farias's emerging presence in contemporary art.
