The Best Stories Ever Told, Revisited  

An exhibition of collaborative works by celebrated New Zealand artists Wayne Youle (Ngapuhi, Ngati Whakaeke) and the late Ans Westra CNZM.

The exhibition showcases a set of photographs Westra captured in New York City in 1987, just before the stock market crash. Youle brings new life to these images by digitally collaging elements of his own artistic language, resulting in striking, large-scale prints.

Youle and Westra first collaborated in 2013. Using sign vinyl material Youle added his risible touch to Ans’ silver gelatin prints, sparking a dynamic union between two artists who had great respect for each other.  This is the first time that Wayne has taken to the technology to alter Ans’ images, marking a new phase of their collaboration.
